Before you start
Do I have to connect my bank?
Nope, and that's the whole point. Bank connections sound handy, but they break all the time, sometimes for weeks, and your numbers fall behind without you noticing. So LazyFinance is manual first. You stay in control, there's nothing to breach, and your balances are only ever wrong if you say so. Lazy Update keeps it down to a few seconds.
Can I bring in my transaction history?
Yes. Import your bank's CSV export: LazyFinance figures out the format (English or French, any date style), skips rows you've already imported, and lets you fix merchants and categories before anything is saved. The file is sent to our server over an encrypted connection, parsed in memory, and never stored: we keep only the transactions you choose to import. You can try it in the live demo.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel in a click and keep access until the end of your billing period. No emails, no hoops.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We use industry-standard security to keep your data safe:
- Your connection is encrypted in transit with HTTPS.
- Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text.
- Optional two-factor authentication (any authenticator app) adds a second lock on your account.
- Rate limiting and rotating login sessions guard against abuse.
- Servers are heavily locked down, hosted with a reputable provider (OVH).
- Your data is backed up automatically, multiple times a day, and those backups are kept for three months.
- We never connect to your bank, so your banking logins are never at risk.
- Payments are handled by Polar, a certified payment provider, so we never see your card.
- And you can export all your data to Excel whenever you like.
- Our web analytics are privacy-friendly (Plausible, which we self-host on our own servers): no cookies, no personal data, and it can't identify you.
- The AI assistant is opt-in: it sees nothing until you turn it on, you control what it can look at, and your data is never used to train AI models.
Does AI read my financial data?
Only if you ask it to. The assistant is part of the AI plan and strictly opt-in: nothing is sent anywhere until you turn it on, and you can turn it off (and erase the conversation) any time. When you ask a question, the assistant looks at just the data needed to answer, processed by Anthropic and never used to train AI models. You can hide any category from it, and transaction notes stay private unless you say otherwise.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. LazyFinance runs right in your phone's browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app, full screen with its own icon:
- iPhone or iPad (Safari): tap the Share button, then "Add to Home Screen."
- Android (Chrome): tap the menu (three dots), then "Add to Home screen" or "Install app."
